Healthcare leader with extensive experience in cancer care, oncology systems development, and international healthcare collaboration. Leads the Foundation’s strategic vision, ensuring its initiatives deliver meaningful impact in oncology, education, research, and global health.

Medical practitioner with a strong understanding of community health needs and healthcare service delivery. Oversees the Foundation’s financial stewardship, ensuring resources are managed responsibly and aligned with its mission.

Business professional with experience in organisational management and partnership development. Supports the Foundation’s governance and operations, and contributes to building collaborations that expand its international reach.

Business and investment promotion professional with extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and funding facilitation. Leads Medspire Foundation’s development and funding activities, strengthening its capacity to mobilise resources and build high-impact partnerships.

Mr Noel Cassar

Consultant Liver and Pancreatic Surgeon

Consultant liver and pancreatic surgeon at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. Completed specialist training at King's College Hospital London, North Hampshire and Basingstoke Hospital, and St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin. Returned to Malta in 2021 to establish the national liver resection service, enabling patients to receive complex liver surgery locally.

He has since expanded the pancreatic resection service, established a bile duct injury service, and set up a liver procurement service in Malta. Actively involved in research, with publications and chapters in international peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.

Dr Philip Dingli

Consultant Interventional Cardiologist

Consultant interventional cardiologist with specialist training in cardiology and advanced expertise in complex coronary interventions and cardiovascular diagnostics. Trained at the University of Malta and Mater Dei Hospital with further fellowship training in interventional cardiology in Madrid, he contributes to clinical care, research, and medical education in cardiovascular medicine within Malta’s healthcare system.

Dr Keith Borg Xuereb

Consultant Anaesthetist

Consultant anaesthetist at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. Completed specialist training in anaesthesiology in Malta and at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, followed by fellowship subspecialisation in regional anaesthesia and difficult airway management at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Actively involved in medical education, he has organised and contributed to airway and regional anaesthesia courses in Malta and the United Kingdom. His research interests include the utilisation of regional anaesthetic techniques in acute pain pathways and the application of apnoeic oxygenation.

Dr Luke Sammut

Consultant Rheumatologist

Consultant rheumatologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, with a strong interest in sports and exercise medicine. He leads the rheumatology transitional service and serves as the Trust Clinical Vaccination Lead. Dr Sammut is a Principal Investigator on research trials and was awarded a team fellowship by the National Institute for Health and Care Research to investigate the safety and feasibility of walking football as an exercise intervention for people with axial spondyloarthritis.

He holds national professional leadership roles as Consultant Representative on the MDT Advisory Council of the British Society for Rheumatology and as a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. Alongside his NHS work, he maintains an active role in sports and exercise medicine, including serving as Club Doctor for Portsmouth FC Women. His work reflects a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and the promotion of physical activity as a core component of long-term musculoskeletal health.

Dr Christopher Rizzo

Consultant Physician in Endocrinology

Consultant physician specialising in endocrinology, with a special interest in diabetes and metabolic disorders. Experienced in the diagnosis and management of complex endocrine conditions across both hospital and outpatient settings. He has contributed to peer-reviewed clinical case reports in endocrinology, reflecting engagement with academic and evidence-based clinical practice.

Dr Keith Sacco

Clinical Immunologist (Board-Certified)

Board-certified clinical immunologist with extensive experience in diagnosing and managing complex allergic and immunological disorders. Completed internal medicine residency training at the Mayo Clinic and fellowship training in allergy and clinical immunology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the United States. Actively contributes to patient care, research, and medical education, with clinical practice across international healthcare settings.
